A glimpse at 25 weeks

This week is a hectic one! We are hard at work (and by we, I really mean Zach.) getting the house ready for company this weekend. I wanted to give just a little glimpse of the nursery. It's obviously nowhere near done, but at least the walls are painted. Tonight, Zach finished up painting the ceiling. Now all that's left is touchups as far as painting is concerned. Then we are waiting until our new carpet gets installed before assembling and putting the room together. That won't be until at least April 19th since the carpet was on backorder.

A little bit about the nursery... we chose the color Citron from Behr. I wanted something bright as the room is very small and we are going to have a lot going on in there. We have two white cribs and a mid century antique dresser that will be in there. Zach is also going to build a shelving unit that will go around the sides of the window and across the top. We have a single set of lockers that will be placed in the other corner for storage as well.

There isn't really a theme except that we want it to be crisp, clean and modern. We have several pictures that are framed in white frames from Ikea and my mom is making the bedding which we also found the fabric at Ikea... it's gray and white and the quilts have a green border. I'm excited to get it all put together, but it just seems like there is so much to do before we get to that point!

Today, I went to my 25 week appointment with the specialist. I was very nervous about this appointment because I had been pretty apprehensive all week. It's been hectic and trying. I don't know why I worry so much because God does have everything under control. The babies are strong and healthy and growing like weeds. LITERALLY! They each measure a little over 2 pounds at 25 weeks and 5 days. Baby A is in the 85% and Baby B is just slightly larger at 93%. I mean seriously, I'm growing big babies. I lost two pounds since my last appointment, it must be the gestational diabetes diet that I am on. Anything that I eat must just go straight to those babies. That's ok with me though. We are both doing very well according to the doctor.

I asked her all sorts of questions, how to get rid of charley horses that happen in the middle of the night, what to do about braxton hicks contractions, when are the babies viable... I got lots of answers too. I have now had 3 times in the middle of the night that I have had excruciating charley horses in my calf in the middle of the night. The past two nights I have had had them in the same calf. I feel like I have done a major workout on that leg now and I'm praying that it doesn't happen again tonight. I have been having braxton hicks for probably about a week now and they don't hurt, they are just uncomfortable. Not much to do there... just stay hydrated. As far as viability, they are actually viable now. It would just definitely not be ideal. The doctor would like me to make it past 32 weeks. At 34 weeks, they say that I can do whatever I want to and it will be fine if they come. My personal goal is 35 weeks because that's average gestation for twins.

Here's the boys photo shoot from this visit.... they are really limber as you can tell.

Next up... Friends and Family shower this weekend. So excited!!!

I can't imagine carrying twins. Wow, what a ride! So glad to hear they are thriving... way to go, mama! I remember those charleyhorses when I was pregnant with Preston. I would wake up and want to cry, they hurt soooo bad! Everyone swore that eating a banana before bed would help. I don't think I ever tried it so I'm not sure if it's true or not (I wasn't a big fan of bananas back then). Anyway, enjoying your posts... very excited for you guys!!!
